(He/Him)

Program Director

Bruce Harris, a Bronx native and exceptional trumpeter, has forged a distinguished career within New York City’s jazz scene. Influenced by the dynamic musical environment of the 1980s, Harris discovered his love for the trumpet at an early age, drawing inspiration from jazz icons such as Charlie Parker and Miles Davis.

His journey took a pivotal turn during high school when he performed alongside Wynton Marsalis, solidifying his commitment to jazz. Under the guidance of Jon Faddis at SUNY Purchase College, Harris honed his skills, earning both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in jazz performance.

He has left an indelible mark in both live performances and studio recordings. Collaborating with legends like Wynton Marsalis, Dave Brubeck, and Tony Bennett, his infectious energy resonates with audiences on prestigious stages and television shows, even extending to Broadway productions. Harris, currently signed with Equitone Records, has released two solo albums and is actively working on a tribute album dedicated to his mentor, Barry Harris.

Beyond the studio, Harris maintains a global presence and eagerly anticipates his upcoming performance at the Newport Jazz Festival, where he plans to pay homage to Louis Armstrong. His dedication is reflected in diligent practice sessions on his endorsed Lotus Trumpets. Bruce Harris’s musical journey, marked by passion and versatility, continues to make a lasting impact on the world of jazz.
